    The Merage Foundation Israel (MFI) Executive Director will be responsible for leading a dynamic, high capacity, entrepreneurial, social impact organization. The position will serve as the top executive for the Merage Foundations in Israel, and as such, will serve to build strategic partnerships and trusting relationships with key leaders in government, philanthropy and the private sector to advance MFI’s mission. Responsibilities include overseeing the Community Development and Negev Division Directors and ensuring their teams are operating at a high level and
    achieving performance targets.

    MERAGE FOUNDATION ISRAEL MISSION
    Negev
    To champion the population growth in the Negev and be a resource to the public and private partners, and
    elected officials as they work to bring young, educated and productive Israelis to a better quality of life in
    the Negev.

    Community Development
    To oversee the incubation of an array of innovative, scalable and sustainable projects focused on
    improving life outcomes for all Israeli’s, with a focus on Lone Soldiers and other newcomers.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    The Merage Foundation Israel (MFI) Executive Director will be responsible for leading a dynamic, high capacity,
    entrepreneurial, social impact organization. The position will serve as the top executive for the Merage
    Foundations in Israel, and as such, will serve to build strategic partnerships and trusting relationships with key
    leaders in government, philanthropy and the private sector to advance MFI’s mission. Responsibilities include
    overseeing the Community Development and Negev Division Directors and ensuring their teams are operating at a
    high level and achieving performance targets. The position will also oversee the CFO ensure that financial
    operations are well managed, and grant-making meets regulatory compliance.

    Advocacy
    • Advocate with leaders in the public and private sectors, and community members to advance population
    growth in the Negev, and champion other key social issues that are on MFI’s advocacy agenda
    • Understand the roles of the government, private and nonprofit sectors to advance our advocacy goals
    • Analyze the political landscape and work proactively
    • Identify and work to remove any barriers or major challenges to achieving our advocacy goals
    • Promote strategic cooperation with government and other sectors

    Partnership Development
    • Elicit in others the commitment and passion required to sustain collaborations and effective partnerships
    • Assess strengths and weaknesses of potential partners
    • Leverage MFI’s assets and amplify results through collaboration and partnership
    • Lead the partnership development process

    Communications & Public Relations
    • Institute a communications plan and system for expressing a powerful and clear image of MFI that is
    consistent with its mission, history and culture
    • Work effectively with the media and ensure staff has the training and tools to represent MFI effectively
    • Work with the Board and staff to ensure proper care and development of MFI’s history, culture,
    reputation and image
    • Serve as the key MFI spokesperson and work to maintain the integrity of the MFI brand in all types of
    communication
    Governance & Ethics
    • Maintain accurate governance and grant-making records
    • Manage the funds provided by Merage Foundations USA resourcefully and optimize the impact of these
    funds
    • Support Project Managers to maintain program reports and archives
    • Maintain excellent Board relations and facilitate the Board meetings
    • Create awareness of ethical issue and encourage a transparent culture
    • Prevent Conflict of Interest problems
    • Know and enforce the laws, regulations and guidance that relate to MFI’s operations
    • Direct staff excellently
    • Working with the CFO, ensure accurate and effective fiscal management

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Zionist with unconditional commitment to increasing the population of the Negev, and a passion for
    increasing prosperity and wellbeing throughout Israel
    • Creative, solutions driven, with an unrelenting focus on achieving outstanding results
    • Passionate, caring, with a high degree of humbleness
    • Executive presence with outstanding verbal and written communication skills
    • Significant government relations experience with no allegiance to a specific party
    • A track record of successfully advancing policy reforms across party lines
    • A strategic leader who can set priorities, focus energy and resources, strengthen operations, ensure that
    employees and other stakeholders are working toward common goals
    • High energy with ability to work non-traditional hours to meet aggressive project timelines

    PREFERRED SKILLS

    • Supervision skills
    • Public Speaking
    • High proficiency in English
    • Firsthand experience with USA culture and work practices
    • Major professional experience in Government Relations, Philanthropy, Business or Social Impact
    • Bachelor’s degree required, an advanced degree in Law or Policy preferred
