    Time requirements: 20 hours per week, 9:00 – 16:00

    Sunday, Wednesday – obligatory, another day – negotiable

    Supervisory responsibility: 4-6 team caseworkers

    Reports to: Education Program Manager

    Location: South Tel Aviv

     

    Organization and Program Background: The African Refugee Development Center (ARDC) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 by refugees and Israeli citizens to assist, support, and empower refugees and asylum seekers in Israel. The ARDC seeks to ensure access to basic social services, and to facilitate refugee and asylum seeker integration, self-sufficiency and ownership in matters affecting their lives. The ARDC advocates for the rights of refugees and asylum seekers and for a humane and fair Israeli asylum policy.

     

    Scope of Position: The Higher Education Coordinator will oversee the higher education program, caseworkers and clients. He/She will provide assistance with clients interested in pursing university level education and/or technical programs. The coordinator will work with secondary schools, universities and embassies to help clients succeed with their short and long term educational goals.

     

    Main Responsibilities:

    – Oversee caseworkers and maintain general knowledge on all active cases

    – Maintain  data collection system

    – Provide guidance and support for clients interested in pursuing higher education

    – Maintain and create new partnerships with schools and NGOs

    – Manage all databases (scholarships, client information etc)

    – Act as an  ambassador for workshops, training and informational events

     

    Requirements:

    – Bachelors degree

    – Comfortable working with refugees and asylum seekers from a variety of backgrounds, including those with limited formal education and/or literacy skills

    – Fluent English is mandatory, Hebrew is an advantage

    – Ability to adapt to changing situations, comfortable working in a fast-paced, demanding environment

    – Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

    – Responsible, flexible, and dedicated
